Looking ahead

I know I haven't really shown any final portraits- yet. I'm planning on making some radical additions to the works that I hope will pleasantly surprise everyone involved. More on that later.

Portraits!

Here are three works in progress for a class called the BFA Seminar. I am making a cohesive gallery of work to install in the spring. I've decided to focus on portraits of people associated with Brooklyn College, be they faculty, staff, students or alumni. Let me know if you are and would like a free portrait. I'll be posting updates on this project often. This should get interesting.

Miyamoto with a twist

My first painting assignment this semester was to take a piece of art you've already made and remake it, only weirder and with more technical proficiency. I turned to the Miyamoto portrait. Although I liked it the way it was, I wanted to experiment with it some more, and here was my opportunity. I'm not sure how much I care for the end result, but I learned some techniques I'd like to repeat in the future.

Creator

Over various school breaks this past year I've dived into The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, and no, it was not on the 3DS. As cool as the new features sound. I slew Gannon for the umpteenth time on the ol' N64. Here's the man behind this gem, Shigeru Miyamoto. I've been considering adding more detail, or color, or other surprises in the vein of previous paintings, but the rough-cut nature of it is appealing. Consider it a work in progress.
